For this large project scope, the city has commissioned DEPENBROCK as total contractor in collaboration with abj Architekt:innen GmbH. In addition to planning and construction, the scope of services also includes interim and final construction financing as well as building maintenance. The latter services comprise inspection, maintenance and repair. The project is unusual not only in terms of its volume, but also regarding the long-term commitment: DEPENBROCK has assumed responsibility for all building maintenance over a period of 25 years.
The contract covers the turnkey construction of three two-field sports halls, each measuring 24 x 24 metres, and one 27 x 45-metre, three-field sports hall. “Sport as a unifying element” describes the overarching conceptual framework for all four hall locations.
Architecture
The architectural principle is apparent in both the façade and the interior design. The harmonious fit of the building volumes and the horizontal bands of windows surrounding them form the identifying element of the four sports halls.
