In the course of the new Moorburg power plant construction project, a larger cooling water intake structure will be required, the technical conditions of which are currently being discussed at a political level due to new ecological requirements.
The extraction structure consisting of two caissons is to be lowered to enlarge the pump inlet cross-sections. The
Inlet velocity in the area of a fish deterrent system should be 0.3 m/sec. must not be exceeded.
Under the protection of a sheet pile wall on the water side, the inlet openings of the extraction structure are lowered. The inside of the structure will be completely rebuilt and adapted to the hydraulic requirements. All concrete surfaces will be renovated and the technical equipment renewed.
