Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Agriculture, Osterrönfeld

Apparently, the relocation of the Chamber of Agriculture from Kiel to the canal in January 2009 and the plans of wind turbine manufacturer Repower, which have since been partially realized, acted as an initial spark. The farmers’ association, a vocational high school and Hanse Drehverbindungen, an industrial company, will also move in alongside Deula, which has been based there since 1961, the university of applied sciences and the exhibition grounds. A new heavy goods port is also being built on the south side.

The Chamber of Agriculture gave the go-ahead in December 2008. The new building on Am Kamp street cost ten million euros. In addition to the chamber, the building also houses the rural women, the agricultural advisory service and the agricultural contractors. All in all, 165 jobs moved from the state capital to the canal.
