The centerpiece of the redesign of Drehbrückenplatz in Lübeck is a water staircase made of concrete and wood towards Untertrave. Depenbrock was awarded the contract for the realization of the project via a secondary offer, which included the redimensioning of the sheet pile wall. In the course of the construction work, the specialists were also able to optimize the back anchoring and the chording of the steel sheet piling.
For the foundation, a back-anchored sheet pile wall was driven on the water side at a distance of around 11 m from the existing wall over a width of 43 m. The space between the new wall and the existing bank wall was filled in. A substructure was built on this backfill using in-situ concrete and prefabricated parts, on which the prefabricated parts of the staircase were placed in exposed concrete with partial timber cladding.
Special requirements had to be met by low-vibration pile driving due to the surrounding historic buildings. In addition, pile-driving tolerances had to be maintained at a distance of 14 m from the pile-driving machine.
