Project

The District of Goslar and the mining and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, with the support of Wirtschaftsförderung Region Goslar GmbH & Co. KG, have planned the construction of a new start-up centre at the Clausthal University of Technology site. The facility comprises 22 offices, six halls, a furnace room with two development rooms, a partitionable meeting room, and a co-working space for a total of about 80 users.

Architecture

The building is planned as a compact structure with a staggered storey. A two-storey “head” contains the public areas such as the entrance or foyer, the café, the
co-working space and the modular conference rooms. These rooms are unified by a central staircase, which serves as a vertical link with the functional areas. The office space is located on the top floor, creating a slight spatial separation between the public areas and the individual rental units. Between the halls, which are arranged back to back, there is a connecting corridor that leads to the public area. The corridor between the halls creates a direct connection to the foyer and allows access to the halls from inside the building. Access from the outdoor facilities to the main entrance and inside from the entrance area to the office spaces is barrier-free.

Energy and building concept

During the planning phase, particular attention was paid to optimising energy requirements. The hall area complies with German Building Energy Act (GEG) requirements and the office area was planned according to the KfW 55 standard. Heat is generated via local heating. The heat is distributed via radiators and in the halls via radiant ceiling panels. Electrical energy is supplied as low-voltage power. LED technology is used for the lighting.
