Wenden-West development

Complex sewer, road and pipeline construction: The number of construction measures to be coordinated for the development of the first construction phase of the Wenden-West development area is impressive: new construction of Velthöfener Strasse including two traffic circles, construction of the site roads, and renovation of the Hansestrasse/Ernst-Böhme-Strasse junction.

Another block of work comprised the pipeline construction and cable laying as well as extensive earthworks for the utilities including district heating, drinking water, electricity and gas.

The construction of the sewer system, including a wastewater pressure line with pumping station and microtunnelling (remote-controlled pipe jacking) under motorway A2, necessitated special measures. The rainwater sewer line was also connected to the Mittelland Canal and a pipe jacking operation was carried out under the urban rail line.

One challenge was the high groundwater level, which required extensive dewatering. The use of equipment on this construction site is also worth mentioning. Double slide rail shoring was used to ensure high work efficiency.
