With a high degree of flexibility in planning and execution, it was possible to adapt an order from the global mechanical engineering company PALFINGER several times to new circumstances. Nevertheless, the agreed completion date of December 2024 was met.

The contract consisted of expanding Halls 21 and 28 at the Duisburg site and constructing a new office building and outdoor facilities. The foundation work posed a particular challenge. A former mining shaft is located beneath the demolished Hall 21, which required additional safety measures during the demolition, civil engineering work and construction of the new hall.

Construction during ongoing operations: The coordination of the construction site for Hall 21 had to ensure that service activities could be maintained without interruption. At the same time, a large number of additional services had to be provided during the construction phase. In particular, this included the complete renovation of the existing Hall 28, in which only the steel structure and the roof were retained. The existing statics were optimized by the in-house structural engineering department and completely redesigned. The construction process also included: sandblasting and impregnation of the existing steel structure of the existing hall, removal and restoration of the industrial floor slab, demolition of the existing façade and new construction similar to the extension as well as the complete renewal of the technical building equipment.
