As part of the establishment of the Aachen city region, a new joint control center for the city and the city region was built between January 2011 and February 2012 – including vehicle halls, offices and recreation rooms.
Depenbrock realized this project on a turnkey basis as part of a general contractor agreement. The new building received financial support from the Economic Stimulus Program II.
The building was designed to be energy-efficient in accordance with the “Aachen Energy Standard 2010”. In order to achieve this demanding level – based on the passive house standard (maximum 20 kilowatt hours per square meter per year) – a high-performance photovoltaic system was used. The modules were installed both on the roof and suspended from the south façade.
