The town of Barsinghausen has decided to build a new fire station building on a 6,500 m² municipal site in the Großgoltern district. The new location will be used jointly by two fire departments. Depenbrock’s services include planning and construction as part of a total contractor agreement.
Die Architektur
The aim of the design is to unite the volunteer fire departments of Nordgoltern and Großgoltern in a jointly used building. Attached to the building is the fire department garden, which forms a protected outdoor space with a high quality of stay. The building is divided into two functional areas. There is a functional area with standby rooms, changing rooms and a training room. A central kitchen area serves as a meeting point and connection between the standby and office rooms and the training room.
The functional area is adjoined by the vehicle hall, which has a greater building height. The different functional areas can also be seen in the façade through the change in height, construction and materiality. The façade of the functional building is constructed from a double-skin, reddish-brown clinker brickwork and individual fields of anthracite-colored façade panels. The vehicle hall consists of a lightweight steel skeleton and a building envelope made of sandwich insulation panels with a metallic surface. In order to create additional green spaces and a retention volume for rainwater, the roof is largely equipped with extensive green roofs.
Das Energie- und Gebäudekonzept
During the planning phase, great importance was attached to optimizing energy requirements. With this in mind, the building envelope of the social wing complies with the BEG Efficiency House 40 standard and the vehicle hall was planned in accordance with GEG 2021.
Heat is generated by electrically operated air-to-water heat pumps to cover the base load and gas condensing boilers for the peak load. In addition, the training room, WC facilities and changing rooms as well as various interior ancillary rooms are ventilated via a central ventilation system with heat recovery. The electrical power is supplied from the low-voltage side. A PV system with a module area of 50 m² generates its own electricity, which reduces the building’s energy requirements. LED technology provides the lighting.
