In addition to the company headquarters in Gräfenhainichen, Wittenberg district, there has been a production site in Bremen for direct ocean shipping since 2004. Another one was added in Cuxhaven in 2008. AMBAU is thus responding to the increasing demand for towers with large diameters and favorable logistical solutions. In perfect coordination, civil engineering and structural engineering produced a small turnkey masterpiece.
Die Architektur
The contract included the construction of 40,000 m2 of traffic and storage areas, including drainage and landscaping. The effects of the tides on the groundwater level posed a particular challenge for the dewatering measures. In order to stabilize the subsoil (flushing sand), cement consolidation was applied using a soil milling machine. Due to the soil conditions, a pile foundation was chosen for the construction of the three-bay production hall. Approx. 2,000 driven piles in in-situ concrete were installed for this purpose. Start of construction
was on May 19, and the first hall was handed over on November 30 – a remarkable achievement.
