The construction of a new logistics and administration building had become necessary because there was no space available for further expansion at the previous location. Arguably
the world’s best-known developer and producer of high-quality thermal management products for the automotive and electrical industries, Bergquist also intends to grow further in the coming years. According to Peter de Vries, Managing Director of the German subsidiary of US-based Bergquist Company of Chanhassen, Minnesota: “Bergquist plans to double the size of its workforce over the next ten years.” Their new two-storey facility with 2,173 m² of floor space provides the ideal conditions to achieve this goals.
Architecture
The new building’s structure combines reinforced concrete and masonry. Mirroring the look of the warehouse, the administration building was designed with a sine wave façade on the ground floor. The upper floor was fitted with a external wall insulation. The staircase, whose cavity walls have been left exposed, is an attractive design feature.
The warehouse was designed in two colours with horizontally mounted isowalls.
Energy and building concept
For the daylight, ventilation and smoke/heat extraction functions, there is a 37-m-long light strip with six openings/flaps on the warehouse roof.
