The Born Center in Hamburg’s Osdorf district is an excellent example of how Depenbrock delivers first-class construction work in existing buildings, even under difficult conditions. As part of this construction project, the existing premises of the Social Service Center Altona-West in the Born Center were extended from two storeys to six. At the same time, a new Aldi supermarket was built, further expanding and modernising the shopping centre.
Architecture
The turnkey construction of an office complex in 2009, including a partial basement, the construction of garages and parking spaces on two floors, and old building renovation, as well as the additional construction of two modern food markets in 2011 provided the architecture for the current extension of the administration building and the new construction of the Aldi market.
Energy and building concept
The office building was extended during ongoing operations. In addition, the location of the Aldi store placed high demands on the organisation of processes and construction site logistics. The market is located below the existing parking deck and under the office extension. It also encroaches on one side of the existing centre, which remained open throughout the construction period, including demolition work.
