Das Projekt

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences has decided to construct a new laboratory building for the Lingen campus in Kaiserstrasse. A new building is planned here, which will house rooms for the departments of Energy Systems and Process Technology, Engineering, Digital Value Creation Processes, Interaction and Communication, among others.

Die Architektur

The tangible longitudinal structure of the new building marks the new edge of the street on Kaiserstraße as a counterpart to the historic existing building. In conjunction with the cafeteria building, the laboratory building forms a new square situation across the street and thus reinforces the campus character.

The building is planned as a three-storey angular structure consisting of a longitudinally oriented and an almost square structure. The technical center is designed as a recessed staggered storey.

The center of the building is the centrally located entrance area with the multi-storey air space of the hall, around which the individual usage areas are grouped.

With its materiality, the façade takes up the appearance of the existing university buildings opposite, but interprets them in a modern language. In addition, the three-storey building is planned as a façade with individual windows in various sizes.

Das Energie- und Gebäudekonzept

The building is planned in accordance with the draft bill for the Building Energy Act (GEG) of 28.05.2019.

On this basis, heat is supplied by means of a gas engine air-to-water heat pump and a gas condensing boiler to cover peak loads. Radiators distribute the heat.

A total of three compact systems with natural refrigerant are planned for office and laboratory air conditioning as well as server room cooling. The building is supplied with electricity via a medium-voltage switchgear outside and a low-voltage system inside.

The covered parking lot serves as an energy roof, which is covered with a photovoltaic system whose energy is intended for the car charging stations, among other things. LED technology, which can be dimmed in selected rooms, is used for the entire lighting system.
