In a Europe-wide tender, the City of Pattensen invited tenders for the planning and turnkey construction of a new town hall in the former Scheunenviertel (or “barn quarter”) based on a functional specification.
Architecture
The significance of the historic Scheunenviertel is reflected in a variety of ways in the architectural concept of the three buildings and the two outdoor spaces. The basis is the formal structure of a classic barn. The central idea of the concept is to divide the building into three individual houses and to create a single unit by means of a transparent connecting structure. These houses are intended to represent solitaires from all perspectives.
Energy and building concept
The building envelope was planned to comply with EnEV 2014 requirements as of 2016. EEWärmeG compliance is achieved by improving the building envelope (HT value). A photovoltaic system was also planned to reduce the primary energy requirement. A gas-fired condensing boiler system is used to generate heat. The building’s LED lighting will be provided via bus-controlled presence detectors and local push-buttons.
