Heidekreis-Klinikum GmbH commissioned the turnkey planning, new construction and financing of a health centre along with its technical building management services. The new building has created space for outpatient practices, a health and nursing school, a psychiatric day clinic, a psychiatric outpatient clinic, a seminar room, a medical care centre, and staff apartments.
Architecture
The new four-storey, L-shaped building with a forecourt meets the requirements of a modern building for specialists, patients and students. The central idea was for this prestigious building to present itself confidently in its dimensions between the two structures that form the hallmark of the district: the Lebenshilfe Walsrode building and Heidekreis Hospital. This new, independent identification point was integrated into the existing fabric. With its shape and forecourt, the building manifests an inviting gesture towards Saarstrasse. Together with the transport links, a prestigious address was created. The construction of the new HKK health centre seized the opportunity to give the entire ensemble a strong identity at the Walsrode location. The result is a space-creating structure whose cubature incorporates and extends the existing building.
Energy and building concept
Compliance with the German Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG) is achieved through a combination of improving the transmission heat loss (HT value), installing a photovoltaic system on the roof, and using heat recovery from the ventilation systems.
