In Lehrte, 20 km east of Hanover, one of the most modern transhipment facilities for combined transport has been built on an area of 120,000 m² – the MegaHub Lehrte. With various innovations, this facility, the first of its kind in Germany, is revolutionizing the handling of
loading units between trains and road and rail. For this gigantic project, Depenbrock took on all
construction work for the civil engineering and road construction trades in a joint venture, including the implementation planning. Extensive adjustments were necessary due to new requirements for the protection of the environment, nature and groundwater. Due to the tight construction time of just 20 months
, the construction measures required a very high level of personnel and equipment deployment with a corresponding coordination effort.
