Leverkusen tax office

Depenbrock built a tax office for the BLB in Cologne with offices for 300 employees, meeting rooms, a fully equipped kitchen with adjoining canteen and a janitor’s apartment. The outdoor facilities with parking spaces for around 140 vehicles were also part of the scope of the contract. The building receives its thermal energy from a geothermal system with heat pumps. This required a total of 16 boreholes, each 150 m deep. Heat is transferred via pipes embedded in the concrete, which in turn are fed with hot or cold water by the heat pumps. This so-called concrete core activation can be used both for heating in winter and for cooling in summer and guarantees economical use. The heating is supported by a district heating system.
