As part of the restructuring and to improve the accessibility of the Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB), the construction of a second efficient landside connection to the terminal via Rugenberger Damm to Finkenwerder Straße south of the Rugenberger Schleusen is planned.
The existing lock chambers and the heads from 1913 are no longer stable and renovation is uneconomical. In addition to the high acceptance of the lock (over 22,000 ship passages per year), a new flow lock is required for nautical, hydromorphological and port planning reasons.
The old northern lock chamber will be extensively dismantled and a new chamber (127 m long, 18 m wide) including heads will be built in the same place.
A new road bridge in reinforced concrete frame construction and a pipeline bridge over the lock chamber were built. The south lock is taken out of service, partially demolished and backfilled. The contract also includes the road construction work to connect to Rugenberger Damm and Altenwerder Damm, the construction of the company premises including sewer and underground pipeline construction as well as paving and road work. The turnkey construction of four architecturally sophisticated company buildings should also be emphasized.
The piling work is being carried out entirely with floating equipment from the consortium partners, including the use of the Bilfinger Jan pile-driving pontoon to construct the up to 40m long inclined piles using swing pile drivers and the combined sheet pile walls.
Finally, the contract includes the entire implementation planning including foundations, reinforced concrete construction, hydraulic steel construction, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. The planning services are provided on a pro rata basis by the Depenbrock technical office.
