Three and a half years after the closure of the neighbourhood cinema on Luruper Hauptstrasse in Hamburg, the site has been given a contemporary new purpose with a large-scale new construction project: a senior living complex with comprehensive round-the-clock services opened there in May 2015. It retains the name “FAMA” from the former cinema. With high-quality furnishings and a combined total of more than 7,500 m² of floor space, the five-storey building comprises 83 barrier-free apartments of various sizes. The project’s forward-looking concept combines the provision of living space with optional service and care options that can be flexibly adapted to the individual needs of the tenants. The facility is operated by the Bremen-based Convivo Group.
Architecture
The residential complex consists of three above-ground blocks and a basement level below the first and second blocks. All three buildings were built by Depenbrock as turnkey constructions in massive construction (sand-lime brick and reinforced concrete) with plaster façades. The basement level of the facility contains an underground parking garage, event rooms, a canteen kitchen, technical rooms and storage areas for the tenants. In the
first construction phase, the four-storey residential building with a staggered storey was erected. The second construction phase to the south comprises a two-storey residential building with a staggered storey and 19 rental apartments.
Energy and building concept
The innovative building complex meets the state-of-the-art standards of current low-energy construction (KfW 70). A gas-fired communal heating system and special heating and ventilation technology with heat recovery ensure cost-saving energy use.
